Here's what everything runs. All of it.
No “contact us for a quote”, no waiting on a site visit before you get a number, no hourly rate that quietly doubles because your bookshelf was annoying. Every rate we charge is published below.
These are per-item rates, and what you build from them is an estimate rather than a sealed quote — we haven't seen your apartment yet. Most jobs land on or very near it. We confirm the final figure at the door, before anything starts.
How it works
The rules, and we don't break them
Estimates, not sealed quotes
What you build on this site is a close estimate from published per-item rates — not a binding quote. It's accurate for the overwhelming majority of jobs, but we haven't seen your apartment yet, and pretending otherwise would just mean padding every number to cover ourselves.
We confirm before we start
If what we find on site differs from what you described, we tell you the revised figure at the door and you decide. Nothing gets done, and nothing gets charged, until you say go. We never adjust a price after the work is finished.
Per item, not per hour
We estimate by the piece, not the clock, because an hourly rate rewards us for being slow and punishes you for having a complicated bookshelf.
$75 minimum per visit
Getting a van and two people across Boston costs the same whether we're there for ten minutes or ninety. If your job comes in under the minimum, stack a couple more things on — most people do.
10% student rate
Book with a .edu address and it comes off automatically. No code, no form, no verification email. That's the entire business.
Materials and disposal at cost
Dump fees, mattress recycling, a replacement toilet flapper — we pay it, photograph the receipt, and pass it through at exactly what it cost. No markup, ever.
Priority scheduling is +20%
Need it inside 48 hours? We'll move things around, and the surcharge is what it costs to do that. Book with any lead time at all and you never pay it.
No surge during move-in week
Every other service in this city triples its price on September 1. We estimate in September exactly the way we do in February. You just have to book early, because we do sell out.

Why it's an estimate
The four things that actually move a number
Saying “the price may change” without saying why is just a blank cheque. So here is the whole list. Anything outside it, and the estimate stands.
The job isn't what was described
Three dressers turn out to be four, or the "small shelf" is a six-foot bookcase. We re-count on arrival and tell you the new figure.
The building fights us
A fifth-floor walk-up with a turn nobody mentioned, no parking within three blocks, or a buzzer that's been broken since March. Access is the single biggest source of variance.
What's behind the wall
Plaster over lath, a stud where you wanted the TV, or no stud at all. We can't see through walls from a booking form.
Parts and disposal
A cartridge, a flapper, a mattress recycling fee. Always billed at exactly what it cost us, with the receipt — but we can't know the amount until we're there.
In every one of those cases we tell you the revised figure at the door and you decide — including deciding not to go ahead, in which case you owe us nothing and we leave. What we will never do is finish a job and then hand you a bigger number than the one you agreed to.
